The Great Northern Wine shop and bar in Ripon is a well known local venue for live music. While downstairs customers can peruse the extensive range of fine wine in the shop and drink at the well stocked bar, upstairs provides a lounge type atmosphere where customers can quaff their wine and fine ales while listening to music of equally high calibre.

So it came to pass that Frankly Jazz were asked to play at the 30th birthday party for one of the regulars. Eager party-goers danced to the swing music Marcus and Johnny offered late into the night. Certainly a venue we hope to cross paths with again.

Wedding At Ripley Castle

Ripley Castle North Yorkshire provided a spectacular venue for the wedding of Andrew and Carly Pearson. The Frankly Jazz duo were asked to play for an hour as the guests and happy couple arrived back from the church for a glass or 3 of champagne.

Playing in the resplendent drawing room was a joy, particularly for Johnny as he benefited from the use of the magnificent extended Steinway. Using it to full effect for the standards that were lapped up by bride and groom as they started their married life not only in visual but in aural splendor…

New Years Eve Party at the Malt Shovel At Brearton

Performing in the Brearton Malt Shovel near Harrogate can be a daunting experience. The well loved pub and restaurant is known for the ‘opera nights’ that attract singers from the very summit of English opera, notwithstanding owners D’arcy Bleiker and Anna Burford who have performed at the best operatic venues across Europe and the USA.

How would such a high brow clientele react to the smooth sophistication of Frankly Jazz? Judging from the applause the change in genre was well appreciated bringing a less high brow but more relaxed vibe to the atmospheric New Year celebrations… raucous renditions of Frankly Jazz favourites were belted out to the delight of the well oiled regulars… with Jonny Tunnard offering a rare glimpse of his own burgeoning vocal style… a great night for all!

Solberge Hall Wedding Venue In Northallerton

Frankly Jazz performed for the wedding of Nicole and Simon Rayner at Solberge Hall on the 10th April this year.

The beautiful grade II listed Georgian mansion just outside Northallerton in North Yorkshire provided a perfect backdrop for a stunning reception. Frankly Jazz set up in the side garden to welcome the happy couple to their wedding breakfast with some classic Johnny Mercer numbers and wedding guests were quickly tapping their feet to the dulcet tones of Frankly vocalist Marcus Groundwater.

With the hot Yorkshire sun beating down and the Jazz in full swing guests at the wedding had a memorable day.

Burythorpe House Wedding Venue in Malton

Frankly Jazz were asked to perform as a duet for the wedding of Joanne and David Armitage at the boutique hotel, Burythorpe House, near Malton. The band was situated in a spacious marquee with dance floor.

Starting off with the Real Book standards ‘The Nearness of You’ and ‘Beyond the Sea’ we raised the tempo with some old school rhythm and blues, mainly Ray Charles inspired numbers, ‘Mess Around’ and ‘Hallelujah’ and the Johnny Tunnard original ‘Lets be Frank’. Dancers of all ages boogied the night away as Johnny wowed them with his virtuoso playing.

The evening was a great success for both the happy couple and Frankly Jazz…
